From Scott Parker to '3-year-old' supporters, where has it gone wrong for Burnley?

Burnley's imminent relegation was confirmed against Manchester City on Wednesday, 22nd April.

Erling Haaland, in typical fashion, scored the only goal of the night inside the first 5 minutes. Burnley's comical high line was cut apart by one ball over the top from Belgian winger Jérémy Doku.

In fairness to the Clarets, they played the best they have ever played against City; their best chance was two minutes prior to Haaland's chip. Jaidon Anthony forced Gianluigi Donnarumma into a good save with a curving shot from the left-hand side.

However, Burnley were consigned to the Championship, yet again, for the third time in just five years.

But where has it gone wrong? It has been a car crash in every department at Burnley.

The arguably biggest low in this dismal season was from chairman Alan Pace. Before what was a massive 6-pointer against West Ham United at Turf Moor in February, Pace had some very bizarre words on Burnley supporters on Football Focus.

"You [Conor McNamara] have kids? Have you ever had a three-year-old throw a temper tantrum in the middle of a public event? At the end of it, you get embarrassed and say sorry, but it doesn't stop you from being a good parent."

"And you'll hope that they grow up, and that when they do grow up, they're going to be contributors to society."

"And the reality is, we're going to keep going and be the best parents we can possibly be for this family."

Burnley fans, who were well within their rights, didn't take kindly to these words. Burnley lost 2-0, with goals from Crysencio Summerville and Taty Castellanos, who had interest from the East Lancashire side in the summer.

Following this, Burnley miraculously beat Crystal Palace 3-2 at Selhurst Park. The following Saturday, Alan Pace came out and doubled down on his comments in the FA Cup matchday programme vs Mansfield.

Burnley, coincidentally, lost.

Scott Parker was also kept in the hot seat by Alan, despite picking up just one win in 26 league games. Keeping a quite evidently out of depth manager, who had too much of a pragmatic approach to games, and had very questionable things to say about supporters too, is a massive red flag.

Fans, again, criticised Pace and the ownership group, and it seems to have created an us vs them mentality within the club.

Upon relegation, Pace released no official statement. The only slight bit of communication was through a statement from 'The Club,' with no specific name attached.

It's quite evident where the source of most of Burnley Football Club's problems lies. Burnley now has to face the championship again, and with the worries over financial stability, what happens in the summer remains a complete mystery.

Just a couple of days ago, to rub salt into the wounds of Burnley fans, he announced partner club Espanyol's new Director of Football. However, he was pictured wearing a Burnley Cap, and it was taken at the Clarets' training ground. Monchi has no affiliation with Burnley.

Burnley travel to Arsenal on Monday 18th May, and conclude the season with fellow relegation partner Wolves at Turf Moor.
